Delightful Vintage Decorations

The postman came knocking the other day with a box full of goodies from the newly released Stampin' Up!® Idea Book and Catalogue. The Delightful Decorations stamp set was one of those that caught my eye straight away as I could imagine creating lots of quick cards with this set. It has a matching punch, so no tedious cutting of shapes - and perfect outlines every time. Just imagine all the gorgeous Christmas colours you could use with these images - traditional colours as well as modern. You can also make cute little ornaments in a moment using this set and the coordinating punch.

I've used Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper white on this card and I've tried out a technique I've seen a few times recently on some other blogs. This is the technique of inking one side of an embossing folder before passing it through the BIG SHOT.  Isn't it a fabulous result? I love how the two colours instantly transfer to the pattern and background. The variations in hue of the baubles is achieved by stamping off onto scrap paper before stamping onto white card stock.

I created the banner by stamping this gorgeous greeting from the new stamp set CURLY CUTE (p. 110) onto some white card. I visualized the shape and cut it out free hand, then sponged the edges and detailed the ends with a blender pen and classic ink. I just thought it needed more than a straight plaque across the top of the card, and it is quite easy to create the look of a 3-D banner by using shading.

The detail photo shows just how deep the embossing can be with this folder (VINTAGE WALLPAPER) which by the way, is one of the Stampin' Up! exclusive embossing folders. I have actually flattened the pattern out a little by running over it with my brayer.

You can use this inking technique on either surface of the embossing folder, depending upon whether you want the raised image coloured or the background coloured. I've added a little sponging around the edge of the embossed section of card, distressed the edge of the white card frame and adhered all this to a Pink Pirouette card base.

If you would like more information about these techniques or the products used on this card, you can contact me via my Demonstrator Business Web Site.  You can purchase the products by emailing your list to me and I will have the merchandise  posted directly to you. A small additional postage charge (5% or $5.95 whichever is larger) appllies.

I hope you like this card and would love to hear your comments and see examples inspired by it.
