MMSC#73

It's time for another Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. The girls over there are lovely and make you feel very welcome, so why not have a go at the challenges. They are fun!

This is the sketch for this weeks challenge:

Would you believe I already have my card done for this weeks MMSC#73. And just as I was starting on this post, I noticed I'd been awarded an MMSC Remarkables award for my entry in MMSC#72. How thrilling. Thanks to Priscilla and her team for what is my first blogging award. You can't imagine how encouraging it is to know that others like my creations.

I can't believe I've used almost the same colours for this entry, but I've tried to use a different style - a little more Contemporary than Vintage, but the ol' Vintage keeps creeping in around the edges!

This card evolved from the background. I was showing my friend Linda how to do brayered backgrounds and demonstrated a couple of different techniques, then added the sponging  at the bottom to create the hills. I liked what "happened" so kept it aside to make a card later. Little did I realize "later" would be just 2 days later when I saw the sneak peek of MMSC#73.

So, what have I used? All Stampin' Up!® goodies of course. I am dedicated to them. Pink Pirouette card stock and ink; Soft Suede card stock and ink, plus some Chocolate Chip ink for the darker branches. Quite a simple palette, but apply these to white and the effect is soft.

This detail shot shows the gorgeous effects that can be achieved with the brayer. I do love this technique, and constantly find myself yearning to try more. I tore a little card stock to use as a mask for the hills, and added sponging to the edges of all layers of the card.

 The photo corners were punched with the SU Photo Corners punch, then stamped with Soft Suede that had been "stamped off" on a scrap to achieve a lighter tone. The brads are from the Antique Brad range from SU. Instead of additional flowers I used my Paper Piercer and Matt Pack to pierce  decoration in the torn Soft Suede card at the edges of the main image. There is a little whoopsie in the card, but I'll leave you to find that if you want to bother. I hope you enjoy the play of textures and the variety of techniques I've used.

  1. Hell Ann - I love this card of yours - the colour combo is so lovely! Having seen it IRL, I have to say that photos never capture the ambiance that a card can have! I love your take on the sketch and the brayering - I knew you would make something beautiful with the sample - I think it iwll be a long tome before my brayering looks so good! LOL! Love it! Thank you for joining us at the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge this week - we appreciate your support and would love to see you play along next week! {{{hugs}}}
