Paper Piercing

The card I have today is in the format of a Double Pocket Card. I like to call these my embellishment cards as I make embellishments that can be removed and added to scrap pages after I've given the card away.

This card is my entry in Stampin' B's weekly challenge - this week it is Paper Piercing and you can find more information about this challenge at http://stampinbsdesignteam.blogspot.com/

I've used some retired Stampin' Up!® designer series papers and images with coordinating card stock and ribbon.

The animal images have been coloured with a blender pen and Classic Ink from Stampin' Up! and each of them can be removed and used again.  The paper piercing highlights the Teddy on the front of the card.

I love this technique and often find myself using it for finishing touches on cards. Sometimes I draw between the holes with a marker - fairly realistic looking "faux stitching" can be achieved this way, particularly if I let the tip of the pen drop into the hole - it looks just like I've done it with a sewing machine.

A tutorial for the folding can be found here

And here is another card that uses the paper piercing technique. These cards are fun to make - all you need is the fabulous Stampin Up Big Shot, the exclusive SU Top Note die, some double sided patterned paper, some embellishments and a little ribbon.

You'll notice some dry embossing in the background and on one of the hearts and there's a tiny bit of faux stitching on one of the hearts too. The detail shot shows this up more clearly.

Today I've been working on an exciting project that I'll hopefully be able to show you in a few weeks. My friend Lovely Linda came over to give me some much needed hints, and we were very productive.
Thanks so much Linda!  I'm off to complete the first of these projects now. (and I bet Linda's is already done - I just know she went home and couldn't resist!!!
