Here is the sketch for the new Midnight Madness sketch challenge this week. MMSC # 74.
Hmmm ... this has me thinking. As I have a few Christmas card classes coming up I should perhaps try a Christmas themed card. This is what I've come up with - you can see full details of the project at my A Cute Christmas Project post.
It was lots of fun making this little double pocket bag, and it was so easy. I just sat in front of my Mac with the tutorial in front of me and made it in a couple of minutes. The only things I forget are the exact measurements; hence the need to reference the tutorial.
Once again I've used mainly Stampin' Up!® products. I do love the quality and the way papers, inks, ribbons and other accessories all coordinate.
The papers are from the new "Jolly Holiday" collection which uses Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Very Vanilla. I chose Cherry Cobbler for this project and worked on Vanilla card stock. It was my first time using Cherry Cobbler, and the ink pad was scrumptious. I'd forgotten how delightful brand new ink pads are, as many of mine are now 4 years old and very well used.
Here is a detail shot of the stamped area that I'm entering in the MMSC Challenge # 74. It shows how the skaters have been cut out and adhered to the front of the circular image, plus the fabulous depth gained from using pre-inked dry embossing folders with the Big Shot.
The next photo shows in more detail how I created the circular image. I brayered the background first, then stamped the church and trees image over the top. I dragged some of the rich Cherry Cobbler colour around the image to give a little more depth, and then sponged in some snow on the ground in the foreground. This is done by creating negative shapes; ie you sponge behind the area you want to create. The image was then run through the Big Shot withthe Circles # 2 die.
I used the circle scissors plus to cut out the circular border, as I wanted to get just the right width to match the cross of Cherry Cobbler underneath.
What good is a little bag with nothing in it? So I created a couple of cards with some left over experimental bits and pieces - one for each pocket. I think this might be a nice little gift for my mum.
