Collage in Red, Black and White

I'm having such a great time lately, trying out all sorts of techniques and experimenting with loads of new stamp sets. I recently purchased the delightful "Artistic Etchings" set from Stampin' Up! and a few weeks later succumbed to the lure of the "Notably Ornate" set.

These 2 sets of stamps combine beautifully in collage stamping and I've used the fabulous combination of Riding Hood Red, Black and Vanilla inks for these cards.  I love the effect.

The background was stamped randomly with the mandala image from "Artistic Etchings", then the edges were sponged.  The strip of Vanilla under the main image has been edged  on both sides with the Scallop Edge Border  Punch then stamped randomly with the small finial, Riding Hood Red Taffeta ribbon is tied over the top.

This photo shows the tones achieved by stamping off Black Ink onto scrap paper first, then stamping onto the card. The edges of the main image section have been swiped and sponged with Black Ink, then just a hint of Red ink sponged onto the top corner.

I've added a couple of RH Red mandala images that have been stamped off to get a lighter tone.

What do you think of "Collage Stamping"? I really like superimposing images on top of each other and find it a challenge to create something that works.

I am entering this card(s) into the following challenges:
