Cards For Men

Once in a while it is great to have some "cards for men" in the stash so I decide to add some to my Stamp-A-Stack designs for this month.

It was great fun getting out this lovely Stampin' Up!® set from the Summer Mini Catalogue. It is called THE OPEN SEA and I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. Quite odd that this is the first time I've used it. I wonder if that is telling me I have too many stamps!

I used the same sketch for both cards, just changing the orientation from landscape to portrait. This creates quite different cards.

Here is the first card made using Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray and White - colours that coordinate with the NAUTICAL EXPEDITION Designer Series Paper.

I kept the card quite simple for the class, with some collage stamping and stamping off on the torn White card. I wrapped it with Bakers Twine  then matted it onto Basic Grey, some DSP from Nautical Expedition, some more Basic Grey and finally a Cherry Cobbler base card.

The detail shows the variety of stamps available in this set. A little sponging helped to soften the edges of the torn card stock.

After the class I decided to step this card up a little by adding a greeting and another embellishment. Here is the result

The anchor is part of the Open Sea Stamp set. It is a wonderful image and quite easy to cut out.

The anchor has been adhered to a circular Birthday stamp that was stamped once on cherry Cobbler and once on white card stock then punched out with different size punches.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:-
The Paper Players - Masculine Project
OutLines Monday Challenge - Keep It Square
Here Come The Boys - Vinatge Feel Masculine

Hope you enjoyed looking - I'll post the other card tomorrow.

Until then

Stay Crafty!

    1. Ah Narelle, that is one of the hazards of being an SU demonstrator isn't it? So many lovely things to play with. By the way I love your card making style - see it often on Stampin Connection and am always impressed with the wonderful designs and craftsmanship.

  9. Ann, this is one fantastic "guy" card! Love the torn edges and the bakers twine accent. I had to chuckle at your comment about needing a stamp set and neglecting to show it some ink. I have one...or two...or...well, a few of those in my stamp studio. Lol! Glad you inked up this set to share with us at the Paper Players this week! :)
