Vellum and Heat Embossing for Christmas

We had a lovely class last night - our May Christmas Stamp A Stack concentrated on the technique of Heat Embossing. In particular, embossing on Vellum card and creating a Faux Patina on Dry Embossed textures.

This will just be a very quick post - early to bed for me tonight as I have to be up very early to catch a flight to the USA tomorrow morning. I'm so excited - it will be lots of fun.

Back to the cards.

The first card is a simple layout using White Embossing Powder from Stampin' Up! and heating the image on Vellum Card. A torn edge and some gorgeous Pool Party Seam binding provide a soft, non traditional Christmas Card.

The second card was a little more time consuming as it required a number of colouring steps after the initial pre-inked and dry embossed stage.
I used Pretty in Pink to dry Emboss with the Petals A Plenty Embossing folder. Next came some Riding Hood Red sponging followed by more sponging in Old Olive. Finally I added Early Espresso to highlight some of the embossed shapes.
HINT: ensure this inked piece is dry before proceeding to the Heat Embossing stage or the embossing powder will stick to the damp ink.

The background is lightly stamped with a retired background stamp from Stampin Up - Sanded.  This is one of my favourites! Then some greetings from the Many Merry Messages set were stamped randomly on the background.

I really love this technique and have tried it with a number of colour combinations. Essentially you need colours in 4 different strengths - light to dark. I choose to use gold embossing powder, but silver and bronze would work as well

Hope you like the cards. They were lots of fun to create and lend themselves to using many different colour combinations.

My next Christmas Card Stamp A Stack is scheduled for Wednesday June 6th.  Class is limited to 8 persons, but I will run a repeat class (Friday 8th June) if needed. Please contact me via my Demonstrator Business Website if you would like to join the class.

Until Next Time

Stay Crafty!
