Stampin' Up! Card Base Pop 'n Cuts

I spent a quiet morning getting ready for my grandson's 5th Birthday today. His party was themed "Super Heroes" so I thought I'd make him a card following the theme. I wanted something a bit different so decided to try using the new card Base Pop 'n Cuts by Stampin Up. It is in the new Seasonal Catalogue and as it has a Framelits and Dress Up stamp set to go with it, I'm guessing most people think it is geared towards "girly" cards.

Here is the first card I made using the All Dressed Up Bundle, the Card Base Pop 'n Cuts and the Dress Form Pop 'n Cuts dies.

I'll do a post about this card at another time, because I want to show you an alternate way to use these products for a boy/male card.

As I said it was our little Super Heroes' Birthday today. He is mad keen on all the superheroes, so I didn't think it would matter which one I chose.

Now Stampin' Up! doesn't have a Super Hero stamp so I downloaded and printed a picture from the web. I wanted it to pop open when he opened the card, and this is what I came up with.

I used Basic Black Card for the base (Dress Form Pop 'n Cuts) and some red spotted Designer Series Paper from the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper Pack. I just adore that paper and you will see it quite often in my craft. It is so happy!

The cake is made using the Build A Cupcake Punch from Stampin Up, with the flames and spots being drawn in with glitter glue.
The 5 is cut with the Big Shot from a retired Stampin' Up! letter set, covered with glue from the 2-way Glue Pen and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

When the card is opened the superhero (and I don't know who this one is but his colours went well with the card!) pops up along with the Happy Birthday greeting.

I matted the printed image onto some black card then cut random zig zags around three edges. Then I glued it onto the dress frame. I stamped the Birthday greeting and coloured it with my Stampin' Write Markers.

The plain black background looked a little heavy so I added some knockout stars using The Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details - a carry over product from the Holiday Catalogue.

The card folds up nicely with the front  slotting into the back slits. And all this fits into the regular Stampin Up envelopes.

Hope you like my take on the Dress Form. It's good to know it can be used for lots of other things besides a variety of dresses.

Until Next Time

Stay Crafty!
