Recently I tried the colour direct to clear block technique for achieving interesting backgrounds on cards. It was so much fun and because it was pre-Christmas I just had to try some Christmas cards.
I've been trying to think of some ideas that may make some cards that are a little more "Australian" for Christmas and although these cards are not totally "Aussie", I did manage to get away from the much loved snowflakes and winter Christmas images.
Many different effects can be achieved depending on the amount of moisture spritzed onto the block. First you need to colour the block with your Stampin' Write Markers. Choose 3 or 4 colours and apply the lightest colour first, then just add colour where you think it will look nice!
The block can be spritzed with water or a shimmer mist before stamping onto your card. Regular A4 Whisper White is fine to use or you could try the Stampin' Up! water-colour paper. It is fun to see how this dries because although you can control the final result a little, there is always that little bit of unknown about this technique.
Stamp a few of these at a time and then allow to dry or hasten drying with the heat tool. I used Stazon Jet Black ink to stamp the foliage and the flower and then hand coloured the flower.
