A Daughter's Wedding Card

I found this sketch recently and rather like it, so thought I'd have a go at doing something different.

I think texture and pattern play a great part in creating interest and variety to cards - just takes them that little bit further and gives them that real "hand-crafted" feeling.

I am also entering this in the following challenges:

I've actually made this card as a wedding card for my daughter and her fiance. They are getting married later this week so you can imagine the excitement building in our house. The wedding will take place in Bali - in the mountains - and as she is a "pink" girl I thought that would be the perfect colour to combine with the greens of the mountains.

It's strange  how difficult it is to create a card that shows the love and good wishes you hold for someone so dear to you. I've struggled with this one a bit, even 'tho I love the combination of stamps from Stampin' Up!®, and I love the colour combination: - I'm just not sure about the way I've put it together, so it's sitting downstairs in my craft room waiting for me to make some final decisions.

I've used a number of techniques to create the different sections of the sketch. These include:
  • pre-inked dry embossing for the swirly panel on the left.
  • dry embossing with the Perfect Polka Dot folder
  • stamping white ink on green card using the fabulous single stamp "Fine Flourish" by Stampin' Up!
  • colouring the flowers and maiden hair fern with inks and an Aqua Painter
  • cutting the flourishes with my Big Shot
  • sponging the edges of the main section of the card
  • raising some images using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The sketch components are somewhat hidden by the embellishments, but it was inspirational none the less.

Isn't this a beautiful sentiment, and one we all hope for our children? In this detail you can see I used some of the new half pearls from Stampin' Up!® I just love these for effect and convenience as they are self adhesive. I've also added some of the Pink Taffeta Ribbon and distressed the edge of the greeting.

This photo shows the pre-inked dry embossed swirls and some of the flourish cut with my Big Shot. This comes in a long length, so I just cut bits from it as I needed.  And when the card was complete - guess what? It was too big for any of the envelopes I had, so I had to make my own! Oh well, thank goodness for Stampin' Up's co-ordinating double sided papers that match the ink colours.  They are just great for when little whoopsies like that happen.

I am finally happy with the outcome of this card as it does reflect my lovely daughter and I know her fiance will be happy, or at least OK with the fact that there is so much pink involved. He is a modern young man!

Oh, I forgot to mention the name of the stamp set I used. It is GROWING GREEN by Stampin' Up! The greeting comes from the Level 3 Hostess free set named Occasional Quotes.
Got some final packing to do so I'd better rush. I'd be pleased to hear your comments. Thanks for stopping by.
