NIght in Bethlehem in Silver Foil and Blue.

This is the final card we made for my Night In Bethlehem card class. I particularly like this one because of the colours used. 

Marina Mist and Perfect Plum sponging on Marina Mist card stock set the scene behind the die cut city.

The city has been die cut with the Bethlehem Edgelits Dies, and I've used Night of Navy card for the distance  and Marina Mist for the front. I used Clear Wink of Stella over the Marina Mist buildings and heat embossed the stars with Silver Embossing Powder and my Stampin' Up Heat Tool. 

Don't you love how you can make the Wink of Stella highlight parts of your images by adding more or less of it?

I found by lining up the base of both dies that each of the doorways was nicely coloured dark from the shapes behind. I also added a little water coloured base under the front set of buildings as I felt that they needed grounding. this was done with an Aqua Painter and Night of Navy ink

The Marina Mist card front was matted onto Silver Foil and then onto Thick Whisper White card.

Stampin' Up! a Pile of Cards for Ronald MacDonald House

As a company Stampin' Up! invites  it's demonstrators to participate in the Community to "Make a Difference". One way we can do this is to be involved with our local Ronald MacDonald House. I hosted a lovely day this past weekend where friends gathered to create cards, enjoy each others company and raise much needed funds for RMHC.

I delivered the cards and cash today and had a lovely tour of the facility whilst meeting with the very friendly and delightful staff. The staff loved the 34 cards and the cash will contribute to purchasing a new vacuum cleaner - not just any vacuum - it is a Dyson!
I am going to enjoy this association!

Here are some samples of the cards we donated. They had to be fairly simple as each session was just 2 hours  and we had to complete 6 cards plus enjoy a Devonshire tea.

The first 2 cards  are in the Gate-fold style. Lots of fun to make and quite quick to assemble. Designer Series Papers create pretty panels and the Big Shot Window Frames Collection Framelits is wonderful for creating frames and shapes for the main focus of the card.

It's easy to change the look of the card, simply by changing the paper patterns and the embossed patterns.

This is a gorgeous card idea I cased from Brandy Cox
I stamped these in Basic Black and Elegant Eggplant, then topped them with a little bling. These cards, using the Delicate Doilies Stamp set from Stampin' Up! could be stamped in any colour you choose - just change the greeting and you have a card for a different occasion.

And the final design uses the lovely Serene Silhouettes stamp set by Stampin' Up! and some Designer Series papers. The Ovals framelits again make framing the focal shape a snap and a little Crochet Trim hides the join between the 2 papers.

Stippled Blossoms Birthday Card

Last month my lovely mum turned 85 years old. We could not let the occasion go past without some sort of celebration and as she lives in a different State to us, we decided a High Tea at the local Golf Resort - Royal Pines would be the best option. We were inviting some of her friends  who needed transportation, so something close to her home was essential. Many members of the family needed somewhere to stay too.

Of course a special card was needed so I chose the beautiful Stippled blossoms from Stampin' Up!® to create this card for mum.

I used Pretty in Pink and Rose Red classic inks to stamp the flowers, and of course made good use of my Stamp-A-Majig to align the 2-step stamps perfectly. I used Gumball Green and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. These images were fussy cut and raised on dimensionals. 

The detail photos show  the textured and patterned layers. The background paper is one of the patterns from the Designer Series Prints Paper Stacks  - I find these stacks so useful for both cards and scrapbook pages - and I've simply sponged a little around the edges of all the elements on the page.

The stamped greeting is a combination of a few stamps. The beauty of the Clear Mount Stamps is that you can mount them all on to one clear block and then stamp them as one stamp. This saves time on aligning the 5 individual stamps that I used, and also ensures more accuracy in placement.

The ruffled ribbon is easy to do. Just lay a strip of either Sticky Strip or Snail Adhesive across the page and then randomly fold your ribbon from one side to the other. I think it is nice to have variety here rather than concentrating on folding perfectly. For this ribbon I placed a Mini Glue Dot under each fold to ensure that it sat down nicely.

The bow was made separately and attached with Glue Dots.

I used the Stampin' Up! Framelits - Ovals Collection and the Square Lattice Embossing folder to frame the greeting and then added a teeny bit of glitz, using Dazzling Diamonds and my 2-Way Glue Pen to complete the card.

Evergreen Christmas

Today I have a Christmas card where I have to admit to indulging my love of an "earthy" style.

I love to tear paper, sponge and ink, simply so I can create something unique. This card uses all of those techniques, and combined with the lovely new stamp set EVERGREEN (you'll find it on p. 18 of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue) I like the way it turned out. I also love the new NATURALS WHITE  card stock - it has extra body and is great to use as a card base. It also goes really well with the more "natural" styled cards.

The EVERGREEN  stamp set from Stampin' Up! is made up of 5 stamps. I've used just 2 of them on the card. 

I've also used the textured embossing folders, HOLIDAY FRAME (new) and one of my favourites:  SQUARE LATTICE, plus the gorgeous little rectangular DESIGNER FRAMES FOLDER.  One thing I've found with this folder is when using it with my BIG SHOT, I need to have it open at no tabs as it is a deeply etched folder and sometimes cuts through the paper.

The SQUARE LATTICE folder is pre inked prior to inserting the paper and embossing with the BIG SHOT.  I used Stampin' Up! inks - Old Olive and Soft Suede for sponging and stamping, and the verse was inked with Early Espresso.

The card was a little dull and I love a little sparkle so I randomly swiped a VERSA MARK INK PAD over the textured areas and heat embossed with gold.

As usual, I used a combination of a variety of techniques to create the card. I am constantly inspired by the level of creativity achievable through Stampin' Up! and it's high quality products.

Four Seasons Hostess Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

The new Stampin' Up! catalogues bring many wonderful new ideas and products. One of the most popular so far has been this lovely Hostess Stamp Set - FOUR SEASONS. Everyone wants it, but it is exclusive to Hostesses only, so you would need to contact me to organize a party or find out how you can qualify via a Catalogue Party.

I've combined one of the images with some of the other NEW PRODUCTS  from Stampin' Up! available in the Annual Catalogue, and I am delighted with the variety of projects that can be made in a very short time.

Time saving products like the new DESIGNER ROSETTE BIGZ XL die that can be found on page 194. (You can view and download the catalogues from this link) 

Cut 1 strip for this rosette - it comes already scored when you use the EXTENDED PREMIUM CREASE PAD with your BIG SHOT. You will get 2 different rosettes with the 1 piece as you'll need to cut the strip down the lengthwise centre at about 6cm from the edge. Concertina fold the strip.

Join the strip with STICKY STRIP  and secure in place. I find Hot Glue the quickest to use here, and I've discovered how very useful the new SILICONE CRAFT SHEET (page 31 of the Holiday Catalogue) is to save you time and burnt fingers!

The detail shows you another use for the gorgeous new SCALLOPED TULLE RIBBON.  It is so soft and the colours, Cherry Cobler, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso are versatile for a number of projects, not just Christmas. In this sample I've use Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler. A little dab of 2-WAY GLUE PEN and a sprinkle of CHAMPAGNE STAMPIN' GLASS GLITTER adds a lift to the project.

The FOUR SEASONS  stamp set image has been coloured with my MANY MARVELOUS MARKERS  set, using the Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Old Olive markers and the direct to rubber technique. Such a quick and easy technique to give you a multi-coloured image in one stamp. The image was punched out using the 2 and 3/8 SCALLOP CIRCLE PUNCH and that in turn was mounted onto a Crumb Cake circle punched with the 2 and 1/3 inch CIRCLE PUNCH.

As you know, Stampin' Up! has always been about giving you coordinated products and now you'll find a bigger and better variety of products that coordinate beautifully.

Glimmer Glamour at Christmas

I am loving the fabulous quality GLIMMER PAPER  that is now available in 3 colours from Stampin' Up!®. Red, Silver and the new Champagne.

They are all suitable for Christmas card highlights, scrap page embellishments or creating those special little tags.

Today I've combined mine with a rosette made using the new BIGZ XL DIE - DESIGNER ROSETTE. 

This makes making rosettes so easy, but there are a couple of things to remember:

You MUST  use the EXTENDED PREMIUM CREASE PAD on top of the die , and to make a rosette this size you will need 2 pieces joined together after they have been cut.

Isn't it pretty?

Another feature that is really great is the 2 different edges on the die. You can see the scalloped edge in the photo, and on the inside edge there is a nice pointed edge, a bit like a picket fence. Both of these create interesting edges and it is your choice which one you use. 

The centre silver motif is created using the new PAPER DOILY SIZZLITS L die. Another absolutely gorgeous die now available from Stampin' Up! in Australia, and one you will certainly want for scrap book highlights. 

It can be a bit fussy pushing out all the small shapes, but once you experiment a little you'll find the right combinations to use for your BIG SHOT and you'll create tons of these in no time flat.

I have purposely left some of the shapes intact in the detail sample below and when you try this you can create a myriad of  different Doilies, all from the one die.

 

The doily can  be used as a mask for creative sponging, as a topper for a pretty box, or an embellishment on both sides of your rosettes so you can hang them on a string and both sides will look great, etc. 

Here are a couple more samples:

Made from Vellum - 4 pieces attached together with sticky strip. Paper doily adhered to centre on both sides.

Create an elegant look: more than one rosette is piled on another.

The last sample is actually hand punched with the  SCALLOP TRIM BORDER PUNCH before being scored every 1/4 inch using the SIMPLY SCORED SCORING TOOL.  This is another wonderful alternative and you can make the scores as wide or narrow as you choose.

My stamping studio is starting to fill up with these decorations hanging around from doorways, the ceiling and attached to cupboards. I guess by the time Christmas comes I won't have too much decorating left to do!

Scrap Page - New Baby.

I'm at it again! Our sweet little granddaughter is just demanding to be decorated and saved on scrap pages. It is so easy to scrap for girls - at least I find it that way being a mum to 3 of my own, so it is fun to be doing these baby photos for little Mackenzie.

Pastel colours are just perfect for these pages - I have a number of page kits ready in these or similar pastel colours. If you would like one or more please contact me for prices and postage.

All the papers and card are from Stampin' Up! and I made the embellishments with a variety of dies from the BIG SHOT. 

The fairy embellishment is an image I embossed but didn't use for a previous project. It picked up the purple in Kenzie's little dress and of course fairies and all things nice are very appropriate for little girls.

The Lollipop flower was cut with the Big Shot and the CIRCLES #2 Die, then dry embossed with the FINIAL PRESS embossing folder. The edges were distressed and the shape was then sprayed with SHIMMER PAINT MIST that I made from the lovely FROST WHITE SHIMMER PAINT (available from Stampin' Up!) It gives a subtle glimmer - oh so nice!

This detail shows how effective using patterns and punched edges can be. The decorative edge is made with the SCALLOP TRIM BORDER PUNCH, the little embossed butterflies come ready embossed and cut by using the BEAUTIFUL WINGS  Embosslits Die, and the title is made with the OVALS  Originals Die and a Rub On.

A New Scrap Page Subject

Last week we were delighted to welcome our first grand daughter to the family.

Little Mackenzie Harper came into the world with her eyes wide open and ready for a feed! 

And grandma took her camera in to visit when she was a couple of hours old - ready to get some great photos to scrap.

With all the excitement, I wasn't feeling overly creative (other things on my mind) and luckily I had some of my Scrap Page Kits left over from the Canberra Craft Fair, so I matched some colours  and added a couple of elements and had my first page complete in about half an hour.

Here it is....

I really love the variety of flowers that can be made from the BLOSSOM PARTY ORIGINALS DIE. It's so much fun to mix colours, patterns and shapes to obtain lots of different looking flowers. 

Bold lettering in the title is created with the BIG SHOT  and the very versatile SIMPLE LETTERS ALPHABET BIGZ DIE  (set of 4)

And of course the BEAUTIFUL WINGS EMBOSSLITS  DIE  is a perfect accessory to all those lovely flowers. I just love how it embosses and cuts at the same time.

The edges of the DSP look great trimmed with the SCALLOP TRIM BORDER PUNCH - it is so delicate.

And we can't have a little girl without some pink ribbon and pearls.

The stripes of the Pretty In Pink 3.2 cm  STRIPED GROSGRAIN add the perfect contrast to the spotted pink DSP behind the photo, and the BASIC JEWELS - PEARLS  add a finishing touch to the centres of the flowers.
