Botanical Prints Friendship Card

Continuing with my series of cards using the Botanical Prints Product Medley, I have a card today that combines both some Designer Series Papers and a stamped image from the kit. 

 

The  Designer Series Papers in this kit are gorgeous with black and white designs on one side and coloured designs on the other. For my card I've used 2 designs - one coloured and one black and white. I've also stamped one of the images from the Botanical Prints Stamp Set to create a focal point for the card.

I stamped using Memento Black ink onto thick A4 whisper white, and coloured the image using Stampin' blends. I cut the image with a die from the Stitched Rectangle Die sets. (This is one of the most useful die sets I own) 

Do you see the lovely surround to the stitched rectangle? That is created by altering one of the dies from the Ornate Layers Dies that are part of the Early Release Ornate  Garden Suite. This suite is available to customers now, and the dies are just beautiful. I mentioned it is an altered cut out and I did that by cutting the normal die then cutting a piece out of the length, so that it fits nicely around the Stitched Rectangle shape. The join is barely discernible but I've placed some ribbon across the join to help camouflage it.

Best Birds in a Box Card

It's been a while between posts, but at a recent class we made this box card and I based my decoration on the Best Birds bundle from Stampin' Up!

I had lots of fun with this one - it is a great card fold and you can make any style card for any occasion. I thought the birds went really well with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.

It's a good idea to check that your design looks good when the card is flat as that is the first view your recipient will see.

I combined the Best Birds stamp set with some retired stamps for the greetings.
This is how the card looks when it is opened and set up.

The images have all been stamped with Archival Black ink, then coloured with classic inks and an Aqua Painter. I worked on Thick A4 Whisper White card to give the shapes more strength and then cut them all out using the coordinating framelits. Then I added some shreddie in a natural colour to indicate a nest. 

The close up view shows the wonderful colour variations   that can be achieved with a quick application of water colour.

New Catalogue Product Swap for Stampin Up Mediterranean Grand Vacation

Today I have some details of the 3rd swap that I participated in on the Stampin' Up! Grand Vacation to the Mediterranean. By the time you see this,  I will be enjoying all the sights of Italy and heading towards France - a dream come true for sure. 

This swap had the parameters of using only product that will be available in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. Contact me if you would like a copy. As demonstrators we are able to pre purchase a limited supply of products and it is so much fun to try them out and prepare samples for our customers.

For my swap I reverted to one of my favourite techniques - water-colouring. 

I love the freedom this technique gives and especially when you stamp onto wet water colour paper, as I did for this sample. 

The stamp set I used is a Hostess Only stamp set (Gift of Love) that includes 3 stamps to create this gorgeous floral image and 6 different greetings. I have combined the set with a stamp from Timeless Textures, and I also used the splatter from Gorgeous Grunge, another of my much loved stamp sets. 

Don't you just love the texture the water colour paper gives you? I added a little bit of depth to the stamped flower by using a slightly darker red tone and my Aqua Painter. Colours are Rose Red and Cherry Cobbler, and the leaves are Old Olive. I stamped the outline with Archival black ink from Stampin' Up! It is all matted with Basic Black and added to a Crumb Cake card base.

The script on the greetings in this stamp set is really delightful and stamps very crisply. These words are stamped on water colour paper to maintain the textural element of the card, but just imagine how crisp they would look on Whisper White card.

Rejoicing with Stampin' Up! Images

"Rejoicing With You" is the name of a lovely Christmas Stamp set from Stampin' Up! You'll find it on page 21 of the Annual Catalogue.

At a recent Christmas Card Stamp A Stack I used this set in 2 different ways to demonstrate the versatility of the stamps.

Heat embossing the main image with Gold Embossing Powder creates a lovely motif that is easily cut out with Paper Snips.

The card shape is cut using the largest Window Frames Framelit that is then layered with a Tea Lace Paper Doily, a Brushed Gold snowflake, a layer of card that has been embossed, sponged and heat embossed with gold, another smaller Window Frame framelit frame and finally, the Angel image that was raised on dimensionals.

 

The Greeting Tag is created with the Music Notes Wheel and a greeting from the Christmas Lodge stamp set, by Stampin Up.

These would look in any colour combinations using either the gold or silver embossing powder, and although they look quite complicated, if you have all the products the cards can be made easily.

The next is a more traditional card shape in the landscape format. 

 Stampin Up products used are:

Stamps: Rejoicing With You; Christmas Lodge; En Francais.

Card stock: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler.

Inks: Cherry Cobbler; Chocolate Chip.

Accessories: Seam Binding -Cherry Cobbler; Flower Trim; Crochet Trim.

I really like the uneven stamped image on this stamp. It helps to give the card a more Vintage look.

I cut just one of the flowers from the Flower Trim strip - it makes such a lovely quick embellishment!

Stampin Up Announces A Colour Refresh Coming Soon.

Good Evening!

There is more news today.........Stampin' Up! will have a COLOUR REFRESH with the next new catalogue, and have, today,  released the list of colours that will be retiring. 

It is important to stay up to date with colour trends and to that end we are excited to share the new list of colours. 

What does this mean? It means that from today (April 4th) all retiring/discontinued colour products, including INK, PAPER, RIBBON and accessories will be available ONLY WHILE STOCKS LAST. 

 If you decide to get your supplies early you can contact me via a message on facebook or via my website  

While there, to save time, you can  visit my On-line store to place your order.

My advice is for you to check the list of colours: if any of your favourites are going then think about purchasing re-inkers and co-ordinating products like ribbons and card. We cannot guarantee they will still be available towards the end of the catalogue (June)

Stampin' Up! Shaker Cards - Christmas

I know it is only February, but I still commenced my Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack classes this month. I have a lot of travel happening this year and am not sure how I'll fit everything in, so we have an early start. I'm also expecting a new grandchild mid year and that will be a distraction! A welcome one too.

This is my first try at Shaker Cards and I found them lots of fun. Stampin' Up! make things easier for us all by providing SHAKER FRAMES (p. 177 Annual Catalogue) so all  I had to do was think of some ideas!

The card I am showing today is a traditional card using the SNOWFLAKE SOIREE  stamp set from tha Holiday Catalogue. This has been such a useful set - I'm sorry if you missed out on getting it.

I stamped with Midnight Muse and Bashful Blue ink from Stampin Up and achieved different tones of each colour by using the Stamping Off technique. The greeting is one of many  from the MORE MERRY MESSAGES  stamp set (p. 15 of the Annual Catalogue) and the words were softened a little by stamping partial images over the top of them.

The ribbon is MIDNIGHT MUSE STITCHED SATIN RIBBON (p. 172 of the AC)

I punched the centre out of one of the snowflakes to make the window for the Shaker Frame, and filled the cavity with SILVER STAMPIN' GLASS GLITTER.  The cavity is covered with some WINDOW SHEET (p. 160 AC) and the circles of the window sheet are best cut with a Big Shot Circle die.

Here is the finished card. The edges of the white are distressed and I drew a  free-hand Midnight Muse border to bring the card together. The snowflakes are highlighted with RHINESTONE BASIC JEWELS (p. 175 AC)

I'll create another post for the other design. Hope you will give the Shaker Frames a try sometime. They would be great for children's birthday cards too.
