Vanilla Rhapsody

Last night, after struggling with a project for my next workshop (frames) I had the urge to make a card in Vanilla and Black. "Keep it simple!" I told myself but.... see for yourself what happened.

I set  the task of using just Vanilla and Black inks, papers and embellishments and found it fun to work with  a sophisticated colour range, but instead of the simple card I envisioned at the onset, I ended up combining stamps from 4 different Stampin' Up!® sets - 2 currently available and 2 retired.

I decided to follow the sketch from Midnight Madness challenge MMSC#90 and have used masking to overlay images. Colouring has been done with a blender pen and ink and the thick "ribbon" is a strip of DSP from the beautiful "Love Letter" DSP in the Idea Book  and Catalogue. The thinner ribbon is 3.2 mm Taffeta  - Basic Black.

The textured border is created with the "Square Lattice" Embossing folder, available in the Summer Mini  (page 17) and I've hand drawn a black line around the image to define this area.
The flowers and butterfly are raised on dimensionals, and I've added Basic Pearls as embellishments.

The entire card front has been spritzed with home made shimmer mist, giving it a lovely subtle sheen.

Thanks for stopping by. As always your comments are welcome, and until next time
