Cherry and White are Gorgeous Christmas Colours

I've been having lots of fun today making up some Shimmer Mist. It took me ages to find the components I needed and to find some small mist bottles, but after searching the internet and the shopping mall I finally found both. Today I made up some white Shimmer Mist and used it on my card. I used it over Cherry Cobbler and the effect is very nice. Have to say I was a bit heavy handed at first and learned that more is not best!

Here is my card: I am entering it in the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge: MMSC#81, and yes I have taken a bit of artistic liscence in interpreting the sketch, but that's half the challenge to me - to see if I can come up with something a little different. Stampin' B's Challenge #86 is a Holiday Card, so I think this one fits the bill. And the Creative Belli Blog Challenge - R embellishments - mine are ribbon and red!

I really love this reindeer image from the Winter Post stamp set from Stampin' Up!® and have found myself using many of the images over and over. I'm going to demo this card at a workshop on the weekend as it uses lots of techniques including dry embossing with the  Big Shot and the exclusive to Stampin' Up!, Vintage Wallpaper folder and the Little Leaves Sizzlits die.

This photos shows the Shimmer Mist applied to the leaves. It gives a lovely subtle sheen and just adds that special touch for a Christmas Card. I love the interplay of textures on a card and constantly look for ways of doing this. The circle that has the stamped reindeer is actually a die cut from the fabulous large letters dies. It comes as a circle with a ring outline, so I was able to raise the centre and leave the outer circle recessed. The other terrific option is to be able to change the colour of the outer circle and know it will fit exactly. I couldn't decide if I wanted a White outer circle or a Cherry one so I've taken photos of both - please help me decide which looks best. Here is a picture of the alternative.

I added the Shimmer Mist to this one too.

I am going to make a simpler version of this for my workshop, but will show the girls what can be done with added bits and pieces. If you want the recipe for making up your own Shimmer Mist from Shimmer Paint, just drop me a line and I'll get back to you.

Until next time, remember

It's Always a Perfect Day For Stamping
