Winter Woods Christmas Card

I loved this stamp set when I first saw it in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue - I think it was the beautiful, bare branched trees that can be used for a number of different seasons that caught my eye.
The set is called "Winter Woods" and it comes in the red rubber format, so the details are very fine and ensure you achieve  a lovely stamped image. Today I've created a Christmas card that uses lots of techniques.
This is the card we are making in class this week, and so far my class loved it.

We started off by punching a circle out of a post it note. Next we used the sponge brayer and Night of Navy ink on  Whisper White card, followed quickly by Balmy Blue on the lower half of the card.
Our next step was to ink up the trees stamp with Night of Navy, remove the circle mask and stamp the image once on scrap paper then stamp it onto the card. Stamp off each time  to achieve the most distant layer of trees.
Using the same stamp, add another layer of trees using full strength Night Of Navy ink.
Finally stamp the same image using Versamark ink. I tried to stamp at different intervals so that some of the previous images would not be totally covered by these embossed images.

Just a note here to ensure your card stock is dry before adding the Versamark and White embossing powder. You can dry it with a Heat Tool and to be doubly sure, don't forget to use your Embossing Buddy before stamping with Versamark ink. Then sprinkle with White Embossing powder and heat until melted.

The Winter Woods stamp set is available as a bundle (saving you 10%) as it coordinates with the "In The Woods Framelits Dies".

We used the long thin die to create our foreground, by cutting Whisper White card, then running it through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.

To complete the card I stamped the large tree with Night of Navy then cut it out using the detailed tree framelit. This framelit is special because it not only cuts out the perimeter of the tree but also cuts some branches so you can lift them with a Bone Folder to create a little texture on your card.
I added some glue and Silver Glitter to the edges - I love how it turned out. You can get the Silver Glitter at a bargain price on the Clearance rack.

Finally add your choice of greeting and any embellishments you want. I chose a smaller greeting from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set. The snowflake is from the soon to be released Snowflake Showcase - stay tuned for more information on this awesome, limited edition bundle coming in November.

I hope you like my card and that you will try using the Winter Woods stamp set in a variety of ways. If you would like to purchase any of the products I've used you will find direct links to each product below.

Until Next Time,
Happy Stamping!
