More Joyful Christmas Cards

Another quick post tonight and it shows you another card I made using the Joyful Christmas Stamp set from Stampin' Up!®

I'm really enjoying colouring this set with my Aqua Painter and Classic Inks, and I tried a little experimenting on the background with this one using a combination of the Gold Ink and Gold Embossing Powder on a dry embossed background.

Inks colours are Rose Red and Wisteria Wonder on Whisper White card stock. I found using Wisteria by itself just a little  too monotone for my liking. You can see more of the background detail in the next photo. As in my other cards, to gain dimension, I stamped and gold embossed the flower image twice, fussy cut it - once with the entire flower and once with just the centre set of petals. I tied some linen thread around the dimensional that was used to pop up the top layer. Champagne glass glitter was sprinkled over Tombow glue for the very centre of the flower.

To achieve this effect I first dabbed the gold ink pad directly onto white card stock. After drying with my heat tool, I then patted a Versa Mark pad randomly over entire background and sprinkled with gold embossing powder. I heated this and then put the card through the Big Shot using the Pretty Print Embossing Folder.  Next both Wisteria and Rose inks were sponged randomly over the background. (I always squint at my work when trying to balance areas of colour as I find this a good way to see tones rather than shapes)

If you would like further information please feel free to contact me via my Demonstrator Web Site and if you would like to reproduce this card or make some similar cards you can order all the products on-line at my on-line store.

Joyful Christmas with a touch of Vintage

You know sometimes, the minute you see a stamp in a catalogue, just exactly what you want to do with it. This Poinsettia image from the Stampin' Up!® stamp set JOYFUL CHRISTMAS was just one of those stamps for me. It called out to be done with embossing and water-colour, and this is how I used the image.

I stamped the image twice with Versa Mark onto Whisper White card and heat embossed with gold embossing powder, then hand coloured the petals using Rose Red Classic Ink and an Aqua Painter. I fussy cut both images, taking just the smaller set of petals from one and the full flower from the other image, and gave the flower some height with a dimensional. Gold Glass Glitter and Multipurpose Liquid Glue give the centre of the flower some texture. The background is Craft Card embossed with the Stampin Up NORTHERN FLURRY embossing folder and sponged in Rose Red Ink. The panels are made from Naturals White Card cut into 2 cm strips and embossed with the PRETTY PRINT TEXTURED IMPRESSIONS embossing folder (available in the Holiday Catalogue.

A tiny Tag was stamped and punched out, then tied to the flower with some Linen thread.
I've tried this image in a couple of other colours today, so I can see a lot of potential for a variety of cards.
