Simple Stamping Techniques Blog Hop Floating Frame Technique

Hello and welcome to another Simple Stamping Techniques Blog Hop. This month we are featuring the Floating Frame Technique - another simple technique that packs a wow in your card making. You simply create a frame, raise it on dimensionals and place some stamping or die cutting behind the frame. Then add some more die cutting or punched shapes in front of the frame.

For my sample I used the "Winter Woods" stamp set and the "In the Woods" Dies, along with "Dashing Deer" and "Detailed Deer Dies". All of these products can be found in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

I started by using a combination of the new Pigment Sprinkles (Bermuda Bay) combined with one of the older Brusho colours - Prussian Blue, onto Shimmery White card. Then a quick spritz with water created a gorgeous background. I manipulated the flow of colour in the centre with an Aqua Painter as I wanted to create the impression of an horizon.

I stamped the bare tree images in Night of Navy and Delicata Silver - a beautiful ink that is available in the Holiday Catalogue. The deer is die cut in Night of Navy and enhanced with Wink of Stella. It is also popped a little with Small dimensionals. The card base is Seaside Spray - one of the 2019 -2021 In Colors.

The name Floating Frame Technique demands a floating frame! So I cut mine out of Seaside Spray card, embossed it with a patterned embossing folder - you could use any that you like - then sponged on some Night of Navy Ink to highlight the pattern. The frame is cut with 2 Stitched Rectangle Dies.

I cut the tree on the outside of the frame with a die from "In The Woods" die set and Night of Navy card, then dabbed it with Delicata Silver directly from the ink pad. The greeting is heat embossed in Silver, decorated with a few Rhinestone Jewels and placed over Silver Metallic Thread.

It was lots of fun creating this card and the Floating Frame Technique gives your cards some added impact. Frames can be any shape or size, and can be placed at any angle.

Simple Stamping Techniques - Cling Wrap Sprinkles

Hello and welcome to another blog hop by the Simple Stamping Techniques team. This month we are showing a cool technique using the new Pigment Sprinkles from Stampin' Up! 

Look at how vibrant the colours are, and they come in jars that already have 3 sprinkle holes in the top with a secure 
re-closable lid. 

We have Bermuda Bay: Daffodil Delight: Granny Apple Green: Gorgeous Grape: Mango Melody and Melon Mambo. 

And you can  create multiple other colours by allowing the sprinkles to blend.

The technique is fun, but it is important to follow the instructions to get your desired effect. 

Being the person I am, I often don't read instructions and this is the result of putting the sprinkles directly onto the paper. I used Shimmery White  to better cope with the water, and while the colours are pretty, I didn't get the results I was looking for. When I checked the instructions I found you need to put the sprinkles onto the cling wrap and spritz the cling wrap before flipping it over onto your paper and crinkling the cling wrap with your fingers - allow to dry thoroughly before removing the cling wrap - I got much better results doing it this way!

This time I can see where I crinkled the cling wrap and using all the same products but simply changing the method makes a big difference to the results.
Aren't the colours gorgeous? So vibrant, even when they start to combine with each other. 
Another hint is to be very frugal with the pigment - it is very strong and too much will not give you the desired effects. Just a few spots of pigment is all you need. And think about the colours mixing together - so place the pigment strategically. 

Here is the card I made using the cling wrap method and the Daisy Lane stamp set by Stampin' Up! The Heirloom frame has been lightly sponged using a dauber and Whisper White ink.

The daisy is embossed onto the background and some edges are fussy cut so they can protrude outside the frame.  
I've used Shimmery White card stock and Pretty Peacock as the surround colour.

Simple Stampin Techniques - Colour Blocking with In Colors

Hello and welcome to the June Simple Stamping Techniques Blog Hop. 

It's super exciting to have the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue and to be able to share some of the contents with you. I'm in love with the new In Color range so have decided to use them for this months Blog Hop using the Colour Blocking Technique. Here they are arranged in a Mondrian inspired background for a card.

The colours are gorgeous: Purple Posy, Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray.
I used this as a base for a male card.

For today's card I used the Tropical Chic Stamp set and the Tropical Dies, both of which are carrying over from the previous catalogue.

I cut strips of the In Colors and adhered them diagonally onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. I used the leaf dies from the Tropical dies to cut through the foreground before adhering it to a Thick Whisper White card base. The flowers were stamped in Terracotta Tile - stamping off to create 3 different shades of the one colour. It is easy to do this with strong colours like Terracotta Tile - you just keep stamping without re-inking the stamp.

I arranged the flowers with one of the leaf cut outs, over one of the greetings from the Tropical Chic set. The greeting was die cut with the Stitched Circle Framelits and adhered to the background. 
Colour Blocking is a simple technique that enables you to create so many different backgrounds depending on the arrangement of the blocks.
