Stippled Blossoms Birthday Card

Last month my lovely mum turned 85 years old. We could not let the occasion go past without some sort of celebration and as she lives in a different State to us, we decided a High Tea at the local Golf Resort - Royal Pines would be the best option. We were inviting some of her friends  who needed transportation, so something close to her home was essential. Many members of the family needed somewhere to stay too.

Of course a special card was needed so I chose the beautiful Stippled blossoms from Stampin' Up!® to create this card for mum.

I used Pretty in Pink and Rose Red classic inks to stamp the flowers, and of course made good use of my Stamp-A-Majig to align the 2-step stamps perfectly. I used Gumball Green and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. These images were fussy cut and raised on dimensionals.

The detail photos show  the textured and patterned layers. The background paper is one of the patterns from the Designer Series Prints Paper Stacks  - I find these stacks so useful for both cards and scrapbook pages - and I've simply sponged a little around the edges of all the elements on the page.

The stamped greeting is a combination of a few stamps. The beauty of the Clear Mount Stamps is that you can mount them all on to one clear block and then stamp them as one stamp. This saves time on aligning the 5 individual stamps that I used, and also ensures more accuracy in placement.

The ruffled ribbon is easy to do. Just lay a strip of either Sticky Strip or Snail Adhesive across the page and then randomly fold your ribbon from one side to the other. I think it is nice to have variety here rather than concentrating on folding perfectly. For this ribbon I placed a Mini Glue Dot under each fold to ensure that it sat down nicely.
The bow was made separately and attached with Glue Dots.

I used the Stampin' Up! Framelits - Ovals Collection and the Square Lattice Embossing folder to frame the greeting and then added a teeny bit of glitz, using Dazzling Diamonds and my 2-Way Glue Pen to complete the card.

You can order any of these products on-line via my website
and while you are there you can take advantage of some of the Special Prices from the Retirement Lists that are current until June 30th, 2013. There are 2 lists - one for Stamps and one for Accessories.

That's it for today,

I hope you like the card and will be inspired to create your won using this stamp set.
As always your comments are welcome.

Until Next Time,

Water Colour Manhattan Flower

Hi everyone,

Water colour is one of my favourite stamping techniques and I find painting ink in textured and embossed images a wonderful way to go. I love this Manhattan Flower Embossing folder from Stampin' Up!  It works really well just by eitself or by cutting around the edge of the design as I have done here.

Adding a bit of colour is as easy as getting out your Aqua Painter, opening the lid of your colour choice of  ink pad, and painting happily away. Don't forget to have plenty of water and a piece of paper towel on hand. Build up from a light wash and you can get some wonderful realism happening.

This is a quick and spontaneous technique .

I've used the wonderful Square Lattice Embossing folder on some Perfect Plum card for the textured background, and punched out a couple of strips with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border.

The ribbon is Rose Red Seam Binding tied together with a little Linen Thread.

All the highlighted products are available from Stampin' Up!®.

You are welcome to contact me via my DBWS to order  the products or inquire about this technique.

It's just a quick post this morning before I duck across to my friends house to help her join Stampin' Up!®. Super excited as we have been crafting together for a couple of years now and it will be so much fun to continue with her as a colleague.

Until Next Time
