Peaceful Poppies Elements

So much gorgeousness in the Peaceful Poppies Suite!

So with school holidays and grandchildren visiting for a month, (and taking up lots of my time that I happily spent with them) I decided to start simple by using the Peaceful Poppies Elements.

This little kit contains an abundance of die cut, printed accents that enable you to create cards in a moment.  

Here is my card.

The Poppy Parade background blotches are created using a stamp from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.

The "Thank You" greeting is from the coordinating Peaceful Moments stamp set.

The black embossed shapes and poppy image are from the Elements kit. 

So very simple and quick. We did this in a class and I was delighted to see many variations in design with everyone using the same elements.

Simple Stamping Techniques Blog Hop - Brayering

Hello and welcome to another Simple Stamping Techniques Blog Hop. 

Today we are hopping with the Brayer Technique - so many great techniques can be achieved with the brayer, but as we are talking "simple", I'm going to show you a technique that is creative and simple to do.

You simply need  Sponge Brayers , an Embossing Folder of your choice and of course inks and paper. 

I started by inking up a couple of brayers in a variety of colours and rolling them randomly onto the embossing folder.

Hint: start with your lightest colour first and lay down most of this colour. Then go ahead and brayer 2 or more other colours to create an interesting background. Remember that the colours are somewhat transparent so they will show through each other a little.

 

I used the Stampin' Up! inks Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay for the background before running the embossing folder through the Big Shot. I then brayered Highland Heather to pick up the texture high points.

I finished the card with images from Rooted In Nature by Stampin' Up! The images are placed over a melon Mambo circle that has been die cut with a Stitched Circle die.

The card front is matted onto Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo card.

Bird Ballad Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are never easy, but I've found the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper gives a lot of scope for creating a variety of cards, including this simple Sympathy Card.

I always tend to over work cards, and I was determined to keep this as simple as possible and with very little stamping involved - just the greeting - this card would be suitable for Beginner Stampers.

The water-coloured images on the DSP are beautiful and embody the freedom of this technique. You will find so many little scenes that can be cut out from one sheet of paper, that you will be able to make multiple cards in one session.

I cut out the background in Whisper White card, using one of the Stitched Rectangles, and used the Stitched Shapes Framelits (circles) to make the detail behind the bird. These 2 sets of framelits are a wonderful investment and you'll find yourself using them over and over again in your card making and scrap pages.

All the components of the card were adhered with Multipurpose glue, and then the front was matted onto a Crumb Cake card base.
