Urban Grunge

Hi everyone,

Last night I set the jac-inks challenge for this fortnight and it is a Photo Inspiration Challenge.

I was a little hesitant to put this one up as I know it will stretch or scare off a lot of people because it's not pretty, but if you look at the colours and the vibrant shapes there are so many facets of inspiration that my mind is working overtime. Unfortunately I've only had time for one card so far, but tomorrow is another day and as it is raining it seems just perfect for stamping time in the craft studio.

Here is the card I created, and I have to say the more I look at it the more I like it. So different to many of my other cards where I tend to use soft colours.

I had the basic idea to work on a graffiti theme so searched out a few different lettering stamp sets. A piece of textured card stock was lying on the table and I thought that would create an interesting look knowing that the stamps would not stamp cleanly on the texture. In fact most of the products on the card were within easy reach on my craft table so I added them along with some embossing and lots of sponging.

Perhaps you might like to see the Inspiration Photo!

And here are some detail shots. All the products used on this card are from Stampin' Up!® - some of them are retired, and some are current, but it just goes to show you how versatile these products are for creating a multitude of styles.

Lots of collage stamping and layering of punched and die cut shapes.

I tried using a variety of lettering styles, linen thread and some metal embellishments.

I've just found a perfect challenge for this card at Gingersnap Creations where they are focusing on the older children in our lives - the Wonderful Teenage Years.

It also fits in with the Make It Monday Challenge - anything goes

I hope you enjoy looking and maybe you would enjoy trying to create outside your comfort zone. It is quite liberating!

I'd love to hear your comments on this card - let me know what you think.

Until next time...

Stay Crafty!
