Welcome to the Simple Stamping Techniques February Blog Hop where we are showing a variety of samples using the Stampin' Blends Marbling Technique.
This is a fun technique used to create interesting backgrounds from Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers), glossy white card stock, alcohol spritz and a zip lock bag.
The colours you start with do not always give the results you would imagine. Here are some photos showing results using the 4 Blends in the photo. If you want strong colour you need to choose the dark shade of each Blend, and then the colours will be muted in most areas.
The technique is easy - simply scribble the blends onto a zip lock bag, spritz with rubbing alcohol and press glossy white card onto the spritzed area.
I used the background as a base for this card, adding the large die from the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies. Lovely Lipstick card stock is the card base and the Butterfly images, and I layered them using the awesome and useful Rectangle Stitched Framelit dies. The butterfly shapes have bee treated with the Wink of Stella glitter pen to give a subtle shine.
It's a great idea to use the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets from Stampin' Up! when cutting out intricate shapes like this as you only need to peel off the backing and you have an instant "sticker" that sticks to the Glossy White easily.
The finished card - the greeting is heat embossed in White and framed with a smaller rectangle from the Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies.
