Freshly Brewed Projects - Case The Catalogue

Hello, and welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop. Today we are casing a sample from the Stampin' Up! 2020 -2021 Annual Catalogue and I have chosen to case a sample created by the Stampin' Up! artists on page 127. My card uses the "Arrange A Wreath" stamp set and I've changed the card sample into a Christmas card.

 

A few other changes include stamping the base vine directly onto the In Good Taste DSP, changing the colour of the flowers to make them more like Poinsettias and adding a variety of embellishments.

The dies have some lovely embossed detail in the petals. 

To me Christmas always includes a bit of bling so I used Wink of Stella on the die cut leaves and some retired glimmer paper for the white flowers. 

I hope this inspires you to try using samples in the catalogue as inspiration for your own cards. The Annual Catalogue is full of creative ideas and is there for you to case.

NIght in Bethlehem in Silver Foil and Blue.

This is the final card we made for my Night In Bethlehem card class. I particularly like this one because of the colours used. 

Marina Mist and Perfect Plum sponging on Marina Mist card stock set the scene behind the die cut city.

The city has been die cut with the Bethlehem Edgelits Dies, and I've used Night of Navy card for the distance  and Marina Mist for the front. I used Clear Wink of Stella over the Marina Mist buildings and heat embossed the stars with Silver Embossing Powder and my Stampin' Up Heat Tool. 

Don't you love how you can make the Wink of Stella highlight parts of your images by adding more or less of it?

I found by lining up the base of both dies that each of the doorways was nicely coloured dark from the shapes behind. I also added a little water coloured base under the front set of buildings as I felt that they needed grounding. this was done with an Aqua Painter and Night of Navy ink

The Marina Mist card front was matted onto Silver Foil and then onto Thick Whisper White card.

Santa's Sleigh Bundle from Stampin' Up! - Let's Step It Up.

I've been playing and creating a lot with the Santa's Sleigh Bundle these last couple of weeks. It is very versatile and today's cards are a step up from the simple card I showed in the last post.

 I made 2 cards today - this time I kept the tree cut out, embossed it with the Softly Falling embossing folder (Stampin' Up!) and raised it on dimensionals to one side of the cut out. 

The reindeer is cut from the very beautiful Copper Foil paper and this shape is raised on Foam Adhesive Strips, cut to length to support the shape. I used these foam strips as they are slightly higher than dimensions and I wanted a 3-D effect of varying levels for this card.

The background seemed a little bare so I grabbed my old trusty favourite set, Gorgeous Grunge to randomly stamp in Night of Navy ink. 

And would you believe it? I adhered the inside Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler card to the wrong side, and I used Fast Fuse. Oh no! 

However it was all fixed with using the heat tool to soften the glue and gently prising the card apart. Do just a little bit at a time and peel the card off slowly. It does work and although it leaves a sticky residue, this can be removed when cooled using the Adhesive Eraser. Such a handy tool.

I hope you enjoy the card and will remember my hint for those little mistakes that occasionally happen.
