Vanilla Scented Embossing Powder

I had a request for Mother's Day Cards for my last Stamp A Stack class, and decided to add a little "something extra" to the usual floral offerings for Mother's Day. 

That came in the form of Vanilla Scented Embossing Powder by Stampin' Up!® and I've used it to emboss the pretty image from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set that has become the focal point of the card. 

You can see the lovely sheen achieved from the tonal embossing and the scent is subtle and pleasant. I added a single flower from the Flower Trim in the Seasonal Catalogue and adhered it to the centre of the flower with Tombow Glue. 

The flower has been punched out using the Blossom Punch then little cuts were extended toward the centre of the flower. This allows easier curling of the petals with a Bone Folder.

The finished card used 2 Embossing Folders: Lacy Brocade and Stripes, and an Edgelit accent: Finishing Touches.

The greeting is stamped in Crumb Cake ink and this is reflected in the Linen Thread tie below the flower. 

I'm looking forward to giving this to my mum for Mother's Day - I think she will like it.

Simply Christmas

With more than half the year gone already, you can Simply Score your way to beautiful Christmas cards. I'm well on the way to having my Christmas Cards ready. I hold a Christmas Stamp A Stack every 1st Wednesday of the month, and if numbers exceed spaces the class is repeated the next night. 

This month was no different even tho time is tight due to yet another Interstate trip. I used the Simply Scored scoring tool to create the rosettes out of some of the gorgeous SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER - MOCHA MORNING to form the focus of the first card, then heat embossed the filigree stamp from MIXED BUNCH using gold embossing powder on Early Espresso card.

I tied a little LINEN THREAD  around the central motif that was raised with a STAMPIN DIMENSIONAL.  The paper was punched along the edge before it was scored. This is the easiest way to create an interesting edge.

A strip of BRUSHED GOLD card was dry embossed using the VINTAGE WALLPAPER embossing folder, and the small greeting was punched out using the LARGE OVAL punch.

I enjoyed making this card, but then in my usual fashion, found myself adding all sorts of stamped images to create the next version which I will post tomorrow.

A Mixed Bunch Embossed Butterfly

Everyone loves butterflies, right? So I'm sure you're going  to love the versatility of creating stunning flowers and butterflies from this one stamp set by Stampin' Up!®

The stamp set is called MIXED BUNCH and you can find it in Autumn/Winter Mini. It coordinates with the BLOSSOM PUNCH on the same page, making cutting the shape super easy and super quick. 

There are so many techniques that can be used with this set, and today I'm showing the results of the techniques of HEAT EMBOSSING  and DRY EMBOSSING with you. 

Here is my card.

So where is the flower? It is the butterfly with two petals cut away! Isn't that great?

You can see in the first detail how the stunning yet subtle the White Embossing powder is on the Pink Pirouette card. I have curved the wings of the butterfly slightly using a bone folder. 

The floral image from the Just Believe stamp set was first stamped in Pretty in Pinnk, then Crumb Cake, and the base was sponged with Crumb Cake ink to add an ethereal feeling to the stamped image. 

I created the narrow framelits frame by cutting 2 white Labels shapes the same size as the pink one, then cutting them diagonally across each frame into 4 pieces. If you look carefully you can see the join just above the Right wing of the butterfly.

The Finial Press embossing folder was pre-inked with Pink Pirouette ink before going through the Big Shot. I love this effect and am using it quite often in lots of my cards.

The final photo shows the 3-D effect easily obtained by shaping the butterfly with a Bone Folder and scrunching the seam binding onto a strip of Sticky Strip Adhesive.
