Quick Dandelion Wishes with Torn Edge Detail.

Don't you just love the greetings from this Dandelion Wishes stamp set? I think the variety in the fonts is beautiful and works so well with the images.

Today's card is a quick one - easy to create with maximum impact through the strong background colour contrasting with the white embossed image.

I've used a technique I call Double Embossing on this card, but first I'll tell you about the background. It is created by inking up a clear Stampin' Up! block with Highland Heather, then rock 'n' rolling it around the edges with Blackberry Bliss ink. Next you heavily spritz the block with a mix of water and alcohol (water alone is fine but will take longer to dry). Press it quickly onto the A4 Thick Whisper White card and hold in position until you see that most of the ink has transferred to the paper. A few seconds is fine for this.

Assist drying with a heat tool.

The next step is to liberally dust the background with  and Embossing Buddy, stamp the image with Versamark ink and pour Clear Embossing powder over the image. Heat set.

Repeat the process of Versamark and embossing powder using White Embossing powder - stamping slightly to the side of the first image. Heat set.

Add your greeting across the base of this image.

To achieve the torn edge I just tore the paper along the edge of a steel ruler. This was then loosely adhered to Blackberry Bliss card.

Dandelion Wishes Card with Embossing and Sponging

 Dandelion Wishes by Stampin' Up! is such a gorgeous set and it lends itself to a variety of techniques.

For today's card I have used lots of techniques:

Heat Embossing

Sponging 

 Stamping.

I heat embossed the white Dandelion then sponged the area with Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Highland  Heather. 

Next I stamped the same image using Blackberry Bliss ink. This section was trimmed, matted with Bermuda Bay card stock and wrapped with White Bakers Twine.

The background of the card was stamped randomly with Highland Heather and Bermuda Bay.

The greeting is stamped with Blackberry Bliss and matted with Bermuda Bay card.

Blendabilities and Corner Garden

Oh those Blendabilities from Stampin' Up! have won my heart, and I've been having so much fun playing with different techniques to try to get the best effects for my style of colouring. 

Being a colour lover I didn't want to just stop at using just one colour so I decided to try using one of Stampin' Up's new large stamps - Corner Garden. This one caught my eye when I first flipped through the new catalogue. So check it out on page 175.

 The detail shows a little of what I was thinking with the colouring. The first flower used the Cherry Cobbler range of Blendabilities, but I wanted some more depth and light in the petals, so laid down some yellow from the Daffodil Delight Assortment before proceeding with the lightest to darkest Cherry Cobbler colours. 

I really enjoyed this project. Who does not love colouring in? It did take a couple of sessions to complete, but it was fun and relaxing and somewhat experimental! 

Here is the completed colouring, now I have to decide how to use it in a project.

Today I made a new card  with a couple of new friends, using the Stampin' Up!® FABULOUS YOU stamp set. ( p.39 of the Annual Catalogue) It is available in both clear mount and wood mount stamps.

I've had this stamp set for a while and really like it but the opportunity to use it just did not arise....until today that is.

I heat embossed the image with black embossing powder then hand coloured a couple of the flowers. A piece of Designer Series Paper from the retiring Patterns Paper Stack - Subtles (#117152) makes a great quick background then all I needed to add was some coordinating Seam Binding in Baja Breeze (# 122331) a heart cut from the Hearts Collections Framelits (#125599),  and the beautiful embossed border from the Delicate Designs Embossing Folders (# 127023)

The detail photo shows how I just added a little bling here and there.

You Are Loved - a Set of Cards for Someone Special

Have you ever tried colouring your rubber stamps with the Stampin' Write Markers? 

This is an easy technique that give fabulous results, and always brings exclamations of appreciation when I teach it.  At one of the recent card classes we made a set of these cards plus a small box to place them in so they could be given as a gift or just stored neatly.

A little of the versatile Seam Binding ribbon, ties the box up very neatly. I've made a window in the top and lined it with Window Sheet, so the pretty cards can be seen.

A set of 6 with 2 different greetings gives a little variety for the recipient. 

 

I love this colour combination of Always Artichoke, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Rose Red.

This  simple and quick project makes a lovely gift for the person who has everything. And it's even better because it is made with love.
