Country Birdhouse Bundle - Sweet Card

When browsing through the 2024 -25 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, I was delighted to see a birdhouse stamp. I've always loved birdhouses and have started a collection of them at our holiday house.

Today I'm sharing the first card I made using the Country Birdhouse Bundle that is part of the Country Woods Suite in the new 2024 Annual Catalogue.

I've combined some stamped images with some die cuts from the coordinating Designer Series Papers - Country Woods

The background of the card is from the Thoughtful Journey 6 x 6 inch Designer Series Paper Pack. This is such a beautiful pack with lots of gorgeous scenery designs on one side and beautiful colours on the reverse. Here is just a sample of the beautiful colours and backgrounds available in the pack.

I stamped the bird and flower images in Memento Black and coloured them with Stampin' blends. I do love using the Blends as they give such beautiful colour that coordinates with everything else Stampin' Up!. I also love that the colours really do blend together, giving you a lot of freedom for creativity.

HINT:

Colour with the Light Blend first then add a little of the dark where needed and then go back over the edge where they join again using the Light Blend. Work quickly for best results.

I also use the Colour Lifter Blend to smooth out areas that abut white card.

The birds and flowers are die cut with the Country Birdhouse dies.

The Bird house is die cut from the Country Woods Designer Series Papers. Fabulous papers for anything country themed but also great as a base for masculine cards.

The chain on which the birdhouse is hanging is one of the stamps included in the Country Birdhouse Bundle

I plan on creating so much more with this Country Birdhouse Bundle and I can't wait to share it with you.

Stampin' Up! Kits are Fast, Fun & Creative

Hello crafting friends.

I'm just wondering why, when I supposedly have retired, that I seem to have less time than ever. Life is full for most of us, and maybe my priorities have changed, but I'm now finding creative kits to be very helpful for when my brain doesn't fire creatively or when I'm short of time for a card for a special reason.

Cute Punch Note Cards with Hello Ladybug

Punches are wonderful tools that assist you to make quick and pretty cards of all sizes.

Today I've chosen to create little note cards using a builder punch from the 2022 -23 Annual Catalogue

This little card uses images from the Hello Ladybug stamp set and the coordinating Ladybug Builder Punch. It also coordinates with the Medium Daisy Punch

The card size is 7 x 7centimeters. This will fit perfectly in the 3 x 3 inch envelopes available in the Annual Catalogue

I stamped the daisy directly onto the card, punched out the ladybug body in black and the wings in red. I then stamped the black dots onto the wings. The "Hello" greeting is also from this set. The border is hand drawn with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. The daisy centre is from the Glossy Dots Asssortment

It is so quick to make a set of these and they would be a lovely gift.

Christmas Designer Series Papers - Stampin Up!

Hello and welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop.

This week we are showing you some ways to use the Stampin' Up!® Christmas Designer Series Papers on our projects, and to show how versatile our papers are, not just for cards, I've chosen a Christmas ornament for my project.

This ornament is easy to make out of strips of paper, and I made 2 sizes: - the large ornament starts with a 6 inch square of paper cut into 1/2 inch strips.

The smaller ornament is a 3 inch square cut into 1/4 inch strips.

Basically you can make any size ornament - it just requires the initial square to be cut into 12 equal width strips, so working with 3 inch, 4 inch, 6 inch etc makes it easy to work out the maths.

The Designer Series Paper I've used is Whimsy & Wonder which comes as part of the Whimsy & Wonder Suite on page 24 of the July - December Mini Catalogue .

I chose 3 of the patterns and as you can see the reverse side of the paper, it plays a role in the look of the completed ornament.

Let's take a look at a couple of the steps in making these ornaments.

6 strips are woven together. You can see a quick video on my Youtube channel showing in detail the next steps that are a little hard to explain.

The centres of the snowflakes are created with foil paper and the wonderful

So Many Snowflakes Dies from the Annual Catalogue. You can either leave it with just the snowflake or add another embellishment. I'm sure you are like me and have lots of suitable embellishments in your craft area. 😉

Mini Catalogue Sneak Peek - Angels of Peace

Very soon we will welcome the new Mini Catalogue from Stampin' Up!® And this week in the Freshly Brewed Projects blog Hop, we are giving you a sneak peek of some of the exciting new products.

This catalogue focuses on holidays and events for the next few months and my favourite time of the year (along with lots of other crafters) is Christmas.

I have chosen to create a card using the gorgeous Angels of Peace stamp set. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to try to create an ethereal image using a water-colour technique. I could just see this beautiful image floating so I used re-inkers and the water painters from Stampin' Up!® on some Fluid 100 water colour paper.

Just a drop of re-inker in a palette will give you plenty of colouring options and for this project I chose Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight and Polished Pink. When using these strong colours they lose a lot of their intensity when watered down and I was hoping to match them well with the stunning Shimmer Vellum (p. 135 AC) I've used the Fresh Freesia Shimmer Vellum - it is so beautiful.

I stamped with Basic Black as I cannot use Stazon, and then applied the colour with a very wet brush. I did not try to "colour in" this image for this project, but I'm sure some different and exciting results will be achieved by using Stampin' Blends, Watercolor Pencil, or Soft Pastels. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella to the outside of the wings - it goes perfectly with the Shimmer Vellum!

I love the water marks left when adding different layers to the project and as you can see in this photo I also like to add a little yellow to any skin that I'm colouring. I find it gives a more realistic look when viewed from a distance.

To enhance the image I added a Silver Foil mat, then a Shimmer Vellum mat onto the card front. Lots of products used in this project but so much fun to do.

Freshly Brewed Projects - Art Gallery Side Fold Card

Hello from a very wet and rainy Canberra, Australia. It's a great time to be inside crafting and today I have a simple Fun Fold card as part of the

This is an easy but effective fold and I've chosen to create my card using a technique where I coloured Stampin' Write Markers directly onto a photopolymer stamp. I'd tried this technique on rubber stamps and it works really well, but I find a very different effect on the photopolymer. I do like it though as it is quite soft and indistinct.

I ran one of my Water Painters from Stampin' Up!® over the stamped image to give a little more blending of the colours. I used Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow markers to achieve this result. The hint of gold is a little Gilded Leafing that I added to assist with joining the background to the overall composition of the card.

Another of my recent favourite techniques is Gilding using the Gilded Leafing Embellishment product along with Heat & Stick Powder and Versamark Ink .

I created a background for the image using Basic White card and the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder that was lightly swiped over the raised portions with Versamark. Then sprinkle some Heat and Stick powder and heat until just sticky. Press the gold leaf onto the background and wipe excess off with a fairly stiff brush. Don't you just love the effect?

To make the Side Fold Card I used different measurements to fit the A4 size paper we have in Australia.

Trim White card to 30 x 12 cm

Score at 15cm and again at 18cm

This will give you a 12 x 12 cm card with a 3 cm fold at the side.

Note: to fit in our regular envelopes from Stampin' Up!® you will need to make the measurements a little smaller:

27 x 10.5cm Score at 13.5 and 10.5cm

I used the Layering Squares Dies to cut Rich Razzleberry, Magenta Madness and Blackberry Bliss cardstock to create frames for the image.
